The last few days in London were spent in the company of trees, squirrels, deer and the beauty of nature and art. On Sunday we visited Richmond Park, an enormous green space that is perfect for long walks, horse riding, bird watching or simply lazing around and enjoying the vibrant colours of nature. It was honestly a relief to disconnect from the outside world for a while as we lost ourselves among well-trodden paths and ancient trees. We entered the park by way of Terrace Gardens, which offered a gorgeous view of the Thames and Buccleuch Gardens.
The air was crisp and invigorating, and we walked for hours without complaining about sore feet or hunger!! It took us quite a lot of time and detours to finally catch a glimpse of the infamous deer that roam freely in the park, but it was definitely worth it.
After a wonderful Sunday Roast lunch at the Courtfield in Earls’s Court, we decided to visit the National Gallery. I have visited this museum multiple times but I can never tire of the beauty of these paintings, and it’s always a pleasure to revisit my favourites, namely: Sunflowers by Van Gogh and The Execution of Lady Jane Grey by Paul Delaroche.
On our last day in London we decided to take a walk in Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill. This was definitely one of the highlights of the trip, mostly because I was completely in awe of the vibrant Autumn colours and the panoramic views of the city. We also met some friendly squirrels along the way. One of them seemed particularly interested in the contents of my bag!
Later, we walked all the way from Primrose Hill to St. Paul’s Cathedral, catching glimpses of the gorgeous pastel houses in Primrose Hill along the way. St. Paul’s Cathedral is absolutely breathtaking, as is also the view from the top. I mean, 528 steps will surely leave you out of breath and nursing a painful stitch!
